Reviews Overview

Most Liked

The authentic feel of Penny Lane Fish & Chips stands out. Many patrons rave about the cleanliness of the shop, which emphasizes its commitment to quality. Customers adore the generous portion sizes, especially notable with the classic fish and chips for just £5, a price that combines flavor with value. The friendly service is also a hit, with Lucy being frequently mentioned for her warm interactions. Banter is common here, creating a sense of community where regulars feel right at home.

Unique menu offerings, such as the pancake rolls and special fried rice, add an interesting twist to traditional fish and chips. Don’t miss the banana fritters for dessert—they bring a delightful sweetness that many describe as “amazing.” Regulars appreciate the option to sit and enjoy their meals instead of just a takeaway, enhancing the dining experience.

Most Disliked

While the experience at Penny Lane Fish & Chips is largely positive, some patrons have mentioned minor issues. On occasion, the busy hours may lead to longer wait times, particularly during lunch and dinner rushes when tourists flock to the area. A few visitors have also suggested that seating is limited, which could make it challenging during peak hours, especially for larger groups.

Additionally, a few diners expressed a desire for more diverse menu options. Though the selection is great for traditional chippy fare, some would appreciate more innovative dishes or healthier options beyond what currently exists. However, these critiques are relatively rare against the backdrop of overall satisfaction.

Friendliest run chippy I've ever been to. Real part of the community. Have to particularly recommend the pancake rolls and special fried rice. Lucy, the owner, always has a kind word and is loved by her many regulars. Pristine and clean, food is fresh and cooked to order.

After seeing The Yellow Submarine we crossed over the road to the rather inviting-looking chippy. We ordered our food & we were about to leave with it when the very nice lady behind the counter asked if we’d like to sit & eat it at a small table instead of going in the park. We were delighted. The food was just right: a good price & not too much for us (like some places). Cups of tea only £1 a cup to wash it down too. We had a lovely chat with her when we’d eaten & she even gave us some samples of her homemade food to take away for later. Next time we’re in Liverpool we’ll be sure to call by again 😊

Simple menu, making it easy to pick standard English and Chinese food at a very reasonable price. Beautifully freshly cooked. Lovely lady. Incredibly good prices! That, with history thrown in too from the Beatles Song. It's boss!!!
